Singapore Night Festival returns from 21 August to 5 September 2026, bringing Singapore’s largest nocturnal arts and culture festival back to the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct. Now in its 17th edition, this year’s festival embraces the theme Myths and Legends, inviting visitors to journey through immersive artworks, spectacular projection mapping, performances and interactive experiences inspired by folklore from Singapore and across Southeast Asia.
Spanning three weekends, the festival transforms familiar heritage landmarks and public spaces into vibrant destinations after dark. From large-scale light projections and roaming performances to creative markets, interactive installations and festival villages, there’s plenty to discover across the precinct.
This Year’s Theme: Myths & Legends
Inspired by myths, folklore and traditions from Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region, this year’s festival celebrates storytelling through art, light and technology. Visitors can expect immersive installations and experiences that reinterpret familiar tales while transforming the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct into a captivating open-air gallery after sunset.
Festival Highlights
Among this year’s signature experiences is Tales of Earth and Sea, a striking façade projection at the National Museum of Singapore that brings local folklore to life through large-scale visuals and an original cross-border soundtrack. During the opening weekend, visitors can also catch the Southeast Asian debut of Birdmen, a spectacular roaming street theatre performance featuring towering illuminated creatures that move through the festival grounds.
Those looking for a more immersive experience can explore The Lost Legacy of Fort Canning: The Forbidden Hill, a 70-minute nighttime walking trail that uncovers the myths surrounding early Singapura through atmospheric storytelling, soundscapes and live traditional Malay dance. Meanwhile, the inaugural MALAM Projection Mapping Competition will showcase works by emerging artists from across Southeast Asia, with the top entries projected onto The Cathay throughout the festival.
Beyond these headline attractions, visitors can also wander through creative markets, festival villages, food offerings, interactive installations and cultural performances spread across the Museum Zone and Zones 1 to 3, each offering a different perspective on this year’s festival theme.
A Pet-Friendly Festival to Explore After Dark
One of the reasons Singapore Night Festival continues to be a popular outing for pawrents is that many of its experiences take place outdoors. Most outdoor installations, projection mapping displays, performances and festival villages are pet-friendly, allowing visitors to explore much of the festival alongside their furry companions while soaking in the lively atmosphere around Bras Basah.Bugis.
Do note that pets are not permitted inside buildings and museums. If you’re bringing your furry companion along, pets should be kept on a leash, or in a carrier or stroller, while exploring the festival.
