Looking for a casual spot to enjoy a meal with your furry companion? Located along Morse Road, That Place is a neighbourhood café serving an all-day menu featuring familiar comfort food with local and Asian-inspired flavours.
While the café has indoor seating, pets are welcome at the outdoor alfresco area, which is sheltered and equipped with portable air coolers for added comfort. During our visit, we tried a selection of the café’s dishes, including its takes on bak chor mee and the local Ramly burger, alongside a range of sides and drinks. A Menu of Local & Asian-Inspired Flavours
That Place’s all-day menu spans everything from breakfast plates and bagels to pasta, rice dishes and hearty mains, with familiar flavours worked into several of its dishes.
We started with the Seoul Angel (S$22), a cold angel hair pasta tossed in a sweet sesame goma kimchi sauce and topped with crab meat, tobiko and seaweed. The chilled pasta makes it a refreshing choice, while the sesame and kimchi sauce adds a savoury and slightly spicy flavour.
The Ramly Project (S$24) puts a café-style spin on the familiar local burger. It comes with a panko-crusted Angus beef patty, fried egg, kecap manis brown butter glaze and English mustard mayo, served with tomato and fries.
For something inspired by a local favourite, the Blonde BCM (S$17) takes bak chor mee and gives it a pasta-style twist. Linguine is paired with butter, tomato soy, pork jowl, balsamic vinegar “caviar”, ajitama and crispy pork lard.
The Spam Club (S$15) comes in a toasted bagel bun with panko-fried spam, yuzu kosho honey mayo, cheddar cheese, tomato and a sunny-side-up egg, making for a hearty and indulgent sandwich.
We also tried the Claypot Risotto (S$18), made with arborio rice, crispy chicken cubes, lup cheong sausage, ajitama, aged soy sauce and bonito flakes. The combination of ingredients gives the dish an Asian-inspired flavour profile while retaining the familiar comfort of a creamy risotto.
Sides & Drinks
For sides, we tried the Dirty Chai Poh Egg Fries (S$12) and Tempura Kinoko (S$10). Other options on the menu include Truffle Fries, Honey Butter Tater Tots, Fried Sesame Chicken and Plain Fries.
The drinks menu covers a wide range of options, from espresso-based coffee and matcha to traditional kopi and teh. During our visit, we tried the Creme Brulee Latte (S$10), Pistachio Cold Foam Latte (S$8) and Mango Soda (S$7).
For those looking for something beyond the usual coffee and tea, the menu also includes specialty drinks such as the Coconut Coffee Cloud, Coconut Matcha Cloud, Sesame Latte and Strawberry Matcha.
A Sheltered Alfresco Spot for Pets
For pet parents, That Place’s outdoor alfresco seating is where pets are welcome. The seating area is sheltered, with portable air coolers provided to make the outdoor space more comfortable.
As pets are accommodated outdoors only, this is something to keep in mind when planning your visit. The alfresco setting also makes it a casual option for catching up over a meal while having your furry companion by your side.
